Ario Ranch
Wendell Burnette Architects was invited by Adrian Zecha (visionary founder of Aman Resorts) to visit and prepare a summary report for a spectacular ranch along the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. The family-owned ranch has been assembled over a long period of time to specifically preserve and protect over 60 percent of its watershed and the symbiotic ranching life of the Guanacaste region. Responsible stewardship of this substantial and diverse watershed habitat will connect a coastal wildlife refuge and other Pacific Coast habitats along waterways large and small with substantial tracts of government-protected primary jungle inland. In partnership with environmental organizations and leading universities – locally and globally – this low-impact eco-development will demonstrate responsible ways to coexist with our planet, with a specific focus on watershed conservation including the synergetic relationship between fresh water and ocean habitats.
