Location - Marlen Grove, Phoenix, Arizona
This project is a small but important restoration / remodel of a 1952 Haver Home within the architecturally significant Marlen Grove neighborhood (a former citrus grove) for a young ASU Law Professor. Ralph Haver, AIA was one of the most prominent architects practicing here in Phoenix during the postwar boom era and similar to A. Quincy Jones worked for developers like Joseph Eichler in California. Our client’s new home had been remodeled like others almost beyond recognition. There were four original models and through research up and down the streets we discovered our specific Haver Model intact, which was a touchstone toward recovering the spatial quality of this “Patio / Carport / Courtyard” model without returning to the original footprint.
